For nearly two months, Anadolu Efes was unstoppable in EuroLeague action, piling up wins, often by large margins as they climbed the EL standings.

But their winning streak had to end some time and that time came on Friday in Germany as a tightly contested game with Bayern Munich ended in an 80-79 defeat. Shane Larkin scored 16 points in the loss, and if he’d been able to make it 18 in the closing seconds, Efes would’ve celebrated a ninth straight win. However, a great defensive play by Bayern stifled his drive in the closing second to preserve the score and send the visitors to their first EuroLeague loss since January 21.

With just four games remaining in the EL regular season, Efes will attempt to get back on track and maintain their hold on a playoff spot when they host Panathinaikos next Thursday, March 25 at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall. Tip-off is slated for 1:30 p.m. ET.
